The importance of being married according to Christian principles
Genesis 2:20- 25, Malachi 2:14-15, Mathew 19:4-6, companionship (help meet)
God blessed marriage as one way that man finds someone to share life with all the time. In the above verse Adam named all things but didn’t find anything helpful for his life and in that way God created a woman to be a helper or a complement in a man’s life. So we need marriage for companionship. As men we leave all including our our own parents and family and find a true partner to be with in all and in everything.
Genesis 1:26-28, for multiplication and fruition
God blessed marriage as a route to propagation of life and preservation of humanity. Man was to find that one person with whom they would continue life by producing and raising children in this world.
1 Corinthians 7:1-3, for sexual relations and avoidance of fornication
Human nature was created to enjoy sex, but God ordained it to be enjoyed in marriage only. Anything outside marriage is fornication, adultery, and evil. Marriage allows you to have a partner whom to share this awesome moments of life without any guilt in your heart, and without questions from the society.
1 Corinthians 7:9, Hebrews 13:4-7, to avoid sexual burnings and fornication
As stated above, nature will always desire sex at a certain age, whether you a church goer or not, so to avoid sexual thoughts and burnings without anything to cool it, one should marry or get married at a certain stage in life. No one is free of this and it has no age limit, its nature, it will call once in awhile, so marrying solves all this mess.
1 Timothy 3:1-5, it’s a training ground for leadership
Marriage gives you an opportunity to test your leadership abilities in life. He who manages his home well, has potential to manage other entities well. Nothing tests patience, giving, tolerance, baring, planning, budgeting, controlling, supervision, monitoring, evaluation, and many others like marriage. However, it’s not a must that if you fail to manage marriage, you can’t manage other issues, but marriage is the best training ground.
Ephesians 5:1-25, proverbs 5:18-19, to express love
Marriage gives us an opportunity to express love to the world, through marriage. Marriage tests our love ability in all that we do in life. Remembering that where there’s no forgiving, giving a second chance, patience, and hope, love is meaningless. Marriage gives you a chance to express love to one person and eventually to the rest of the world.
Ecclesiastes 4:9, for emotional, physical, and material support
Marriage gives another person in life to share challenges and successes with all your life. Lacking someone to share with your pains leads to sorrow and eventually death, and in the same way lack of someone to share successes with makes all success meaningless.
Ecclesiastes 4:12, for defence and security
Marriage allows us to get a genuine defender at all times. Whatever we do and accumulate needs a person who can guard it at all times, and marriage brings such a person.
Proverbs 18:22, it releases favor from God.
Marriage allows God to favor all that you do and he blesses it at all times. And favor is an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual. Or call it an approval or support for something or someone. So God begins to be kind to you and he shows you courtesy at all times.
Marriage is an important aspect of life at all times. To those in marriage please purpose to enjoy your marriage, and to the singles please purpose to marry. Marriage is a good thing.
